"My song Luka had private German lessons with Leyla for 2 years. Her friendly disposition and gentle demeanor ensured that he always looks forward to his weekly class! Leyla uses music and art projects to keep children engaged and interested. Signing German children’ songs and abc’s (with small instruments to accompany) often began the class and I would hear Luka singing them all week long. Her art projects involved interesting materials of different colors and textures, and often included a word memory game made of paper that my son would be encouraged to cut, color and tape/paste, thereby improving fine motor skills while learning language. Leyla was flexible and accommodating of our busy schedules and always sent and email after class explaining what they had worked on that day. "Leyla has a very strong background in child education with a degree in teaching from Switzerland and first-hand experience from running multiple Kindergarten classes over many years in various cities of Switzerland. Since living in New York City, she has built a boutique German curriculum which she can adapt to the specific needs of each child.
Our son loves attending Leyla's German lessons despite them being in addition to his regular school schedule. He never complains, in contrary, he is always looking forward to her classes. He even reviews the material they worked on after she left or during the weekends. As a parent, I always feel informed and included by Leyla as she works with the child through her carefully designed and delivered curriculum.
For our son, Leyla developed a curriculum for both - math and language (reading and writing) - because we want him to become fully proficient in German which includes proficiency using numbers and calculations.
